BYD Advances in the EV Sector with the Upcoming Shark Pickup and the Luxurious Yangwang U8 Off-road

BYD has confirmed the introduction of its first plug-in pickup truck, the BYD Shark, which is set to be unveiled at Auto China 2024 expo starting on Thursday Designed to be about the same size as the Ford Ranger PHEV, the BYD Shark will debut with a plug-in hybrid powertrain and potential for a fully electric version in the future Leveraging the platform of the BYD Seal U SUV with a 1.5-liter gasoline engine and electric motor producing 194 horsepower, the Shark pickup might share the Seal U's powertrains, including an 18.3-kWh battery pack that provides up to 68 miles of all-electric range, and two fully electric versions with larger batteries and longer ranges. With a 115 kW max charging power and supporting V2L technology, the BYD Shark is poised to compete in markets like China, Europe, and Australia Although there are no immediate plans for a US launch, BYD has already expanded into Mexico and is contemplating setting up a manufacturing unit there In addition, BYD's luxury EV brand Yangwang is ready to showcase the U8 Off-road Master Edition at the Beijing auto show.
