Elmhurst City Council Approves Police Department's Transition to Electric Vehicle
The Elmhurst City Council has taken a significant step towards sustainability by unanimously voting to introduce an electric vehicle into their police fleet The chosen vehicle is a Chevrolet Blazer EV 9C3, which comes with a price tag of $58,000, and is set to replace an aging five-year-old gas-powered car that has 78,000 miles on the odometer While Alderwoman Noel Talluto raised concerns regarding the potential challenges related to charging and repairing an electric vehicle, the council agreed that the electric vehicle pilot program would be scrapped if it compromises public safety. Delivery of the new EV is anticipated within the next four to five months.
