General Motors Advances in Electrification with V2H Technology and Expands Charging Network Partners

General Motors (GM) is expanding its electrification efforts with the introduction of the GM Energy product suite, including innovative vehicle-to-home (V2H) bidirectional charging technology that allows energy transfer between a compatible EV and a properly equipped home This offering will allow owners of the 2024 Chevrolet Silverado EV First-Edition RST, the first vehicle in GM's lineup to support this technology, to lead an all-electric lifestyle The V2H bundles, available for $7,299, consist of a bidirectional charger, an inverter, a home hub, and a dark start battery, with the bidirectional charger also available separately for $1,699. To support the installation, GM is covering costs and partnering with Qmerit for installation and permit aid The 200 kWh battery pack of the electric Silverado could potentially power a home for up to 21 days, providing a maximum of 10.2 kW, with current availability in select states and plans for expansion Additionally, in China, SAIC-GM has joined forces with Nio to integrate Nio charging terminals into the Ultium charging network, granting Cadillac and Buick EV owners access to over 2,600 Nio charging and battery-swapping facilities through their mobile apps. This partnership follows a similar agreement with Tesla to permit access to Tesla's Supercharger and destination charging network, demonstrating GM's commitment to creating an expansive and accessible EV charging infrastructure.
