Mazda Announces Electric and Hybrid Models with Changan Collaboration
Mazda, in partnership with Changan, has announced the introduction of the Mazda EZ-6, a new electric saloon destined for the Chinese market As the successor to the traditional Mazda6 saloon, the EZ-6 will be available in both a fully electric and a plug-in hybrid variant The BEV model boasts an impressive range of approximately 600 kilometers, addressing range anxiety for potential owners. Meanwhile, the hybrid is designed to offer a range extender functionality, harnessing a combustion engine exclusively for electricity production on-the-go Aesthetically, the EZ-6 retains the classic saloon form factor, while technically, it is built on a Changan's EPA1 platform, shared with the Deepal SL03, albeit the EZ-6 will feature a slightly extended length compared to the Deepal Additionally, Mazda introduced a concept vehicle, the Arata, foreshadowing the upcoming electrified SUV, the EZ-60. The production-ready EZ-60 will also utilize the Changan's platform, indicating Mazda's strategic advancement into the electric vehicle sector.
