Renault is actively pursuing partnerships with specialist companies to establish a robust system for extracting and recycling lithium and other pivotal metals from electric vehicle (EV) batteries This initiative is part of their broader strategy to foster a circular economy By reprocessing used batteries on an industrial scale, the French automaker aims to generate significant revenue while diminishing its dependency on Chinese battery resources. Furthermore, Renault's approach could lead to a reduction in production costs, given that metals represent around 70% of a battery's cost and the battery itself constitutes about 40% of the total cost of an EV.
